Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind to debut new Mental Health Support Services

MMK Mid May blog

Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind to debut new Mental Health Support Services for both Adults and Children this Summer.

Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind will be debuting three new services in Maidstone this Summer – two of which will offer adults activity-based support, and one of which will offer young people in the area a mental-health drop in service.

The first new service is a Singing Group – which will take place on a Friday at MMK Mind’s Wellbeing Centre on 23 College Road (ME15 6YH). This service, marked as ‘singing for wellbeing’, will allow people to come along and drop in for a sing along and a laugh – all with the intention of leaving with improved wellbeing and feeling good. The service will run from 1pm until 3pm – and anyone registered with Live Well Kent can access this service.

The second new service will also take place on a Friday, and is a Walking Group. The group will meet at the Wellbeing Centre on 23 College Road, and will then can go out and explore some of the local areas in Maidstone. Up to five cameras will also be available for individuals to book out, so that they can capture some of the sights and scenes which capture their interest the most.

The new Youth Service, on the other hand, is a Youth Wellbeing Café which will take place on a Wednesday night from 5pm – 7pm. This service will provide young people with a drop-in service, where they can come along, meet young people who are there age and hopefully make some new friends whilst also having the opportunity to seek support. The service has been funded by the National Lottery’s Community Fund – and will begin on the 29thof May 2019.

The Singing Group will begin on the 7th of June, whilst the Walking Group will begin on the 14th of June.
