Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind continues to offer free-to-access Suicide Prevention training

Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind continues to offer free-to-access Suicide Prevention training

FREE Suicide Prevention Training GraphicLocal mental health charity Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind (MMKM) will be continuing to offer free-to-access Suicide Prevention training throughout the rest of 2019 – with dates up until December now listed on their website for training both in Maidstone, and across the rest of Kent too.

The training, which takes the form of a 3-hour, interactive session, will help people recognise the signs that someone may be feeling suicidal; as well as giving people the confidence to support them and reduce the risk of a suicide attempt being made. It will also highlight the support services that are available in Kent and Medway.

This training is fully funded, so spaces are being provided FREE of charge to anyone that wants to improve their knowledge and understanding of this very important subject. The training will be useful to anyone who may come across someone (a friend, a family member, a colleague, a member of the public, a stranger) who appears to be struggling with life – in short it will be useful to everyone!

Over 1000 people were trained within the first year of this programme, with additional people across the county being trained across the past year. Feedback from attendees has been positive, with many finding the course has helped to improve their overall confidence when supporting other people who are in need.

This programme has been funded through Kent County Council, Medway Council and Transforming Health and Social Care in Kent and Medway. If you would like to book onto one of these sessions, please do so by clicking here.

If you would like to raise your awareness of mental health in general, you may also wish to access some of the free mental health awareness which MMKM are currently offering. You can do so by clicking here. These sessions are also free, three-hour sessions which have been funded thanks to a variety of local partners.
